A low profile porcelain kovsh, Kornilov Factory, circa 1900. Of traditional form and decorated with an old Russian proverb around a stylized orange Imperial eagle, the shaped flat handle and prow decorated with strapwork designs against a green ground. Kornilov was noted for its extremely fine white ground and after the World’s Fair in Chicago in 1893 they exported much of their production to high-end retailers in the West. Length: 7 5/8" (19.4 cm).
